DIY Decor Makeover

This post is all bout taking something old, and making it new again.

If you are like me. You probably get bored of  your old things every couple of years, and if you are like me, you might also be cheap! (Haha, but true)  I wish I could buy new holiday decorations every single year, but I can't. So I like to do small DIY makeovers, to get what I want. I try to do this wherever possible, so I can save myself some money, and also love what I've got.

My mom used to have these trees on her front porch at Christmas time. When she got tired of them, she gave them to me. They sat on my porch for a few years just like this. Sometimes I added ornaments, sometimes I didn't.  Last year I wanted to build mini Christmas tree boxes for them, but didn't have time. This year, I had similar thoughts, but knew there was no way I'd get around to it. So I started brainstorming. First I thought I'd find a cute tin bucket to put them in. Like this:

But all of them were online only, and with 3 weeks to Christmas, I didn't have time for that. Then I saw these cute baskets at Michaels. I knew they would work, and that they would be adorable! I grabbed some floral foam, and I was on my way!

It was a super easy project. I flocked the trees (There will be a tutorial coming. Look for my next post), which took literally 5 minutes for both trees.

Then I had my husband cut the foam to fit the baskets. It was cheaper to buy a big square foam block than two half spheres. I would have had to cut those but they were twice the price.

Then I wedged them in to the baskets, and inserted the trees. Easy Peasy! They look adorable on my porch!

What do you have that you can give a quick makeover? I uses this philosophy all over my house. I'd love to see your projects!
